CowHorse

It constantly amazes me that when I point out this funny road sign to my fares most have never noticed it before. The sign is on one of the busiest roads out of Barrow and thousands and thousands of folk drive past many times a day without even noticing it. I love the way its done so skillfully a cross between a cattle warning and a horse and rider sign, very clever.

Probably because so few people pay attention to signs in the first place, or even know what they represent. How many people do you know actually know what the NSL sign means?

What't this sign about anyway? Why put someone on a cow?

Hi Devon The sign was altered as a joke two or three years back now and has never been changed back. I still think that they did a good job of it myself.

I've been asked about a few times, and every time I point out it does not appear in The Highway Code and the riding figure has been added to the sign.
