Just got this e-mailed to me! what do you think is this really necessary in this quiet Cumbria backwater or should we not be taking chances nowadays?
Are things getting that bad nowadays that taxi drivers should really be considering investing in one of these. Maybe not but then again think back to just over twelve months ago since Cumbria taxi driver Derek Bird went on a rampage with a shotgun killing twelve people including a fellow driver and shooting and attempting to kill two more cabbies.

Think that was just an "incident" waiting to happen..just because he was a Taxi driver dont mean much, he could have been any Profession and picked on work colleagues
You can invest in a heavy wrench for a much lower price. Or an assault screen. Or just don't pick up scumbags.
In some states, Illinois included, it may be a crime to wear a bulletproof vest - at the officers discretion. The crime is called "Unlawful use of body armor." My best guess is that the law was enacted because of criminals getting into shootouts with police, among other things. I'm sure they would have no qualms with ordinary citizens who were genuinely worried about their personal safety though.
