Never hurt anyone

Picked a young couple up this weekend who had been involved in a brawl and wanted to get way from it all. They were about 20-22 years old. He looked your typical chave type person and she looked very similar.

Anyway the conversation was along the lines of him looking for a job and how he would like to work so he can support his girlfriend and he went on to say that he cant understand why he gets turned down for jobs as he is not a violent person and has never hurt anyone in his life and he doesnt have a criminal record for violence.

Then in the next breath he tells me that he recently came out of prison for robbery but he's never been violent. No wonder he cant get a job and surely I would havew thougth that robbery would have a degree of violence to it as the person being robbed would have felt threatened. I mentioned this to him and his response - I may have robbed someone but I didnt hurt them so that makes it OK. - Sorry, but in my book, that doesnt make it ok. Just because youve served the time does not mean you have been rehabilitated.

Drunk Driver

Last Night I was taking a fare to nearby Ulverston when we came acorss a car weaving all over the road and mounting the pavements. I decided to follow this car whilst I had my passengers on board who didnt seem to mid as I struck a deal with them over the fare, I called the police whilst following the drunk driver who seemed to be lost and kept doubling back on himself until he made a wrong turning at the local cemetery and drive into a wall.

It was at this point that I went bumper to bumper with him to stop him from moving, jumped out and grabbed his car keys. The police turned up literally seconds later. The man in his early 50s could hardly speak and was incapable of taking a brethalyser test.

At this point I realised that I had done my bit for society and got a drunk driver off the road but then got a lecture off the police saying that I should not play the part of a hero and should not put myself in danger. I can see the officers point now but at the time you dont think of this sort of thing and I wasnt on my won. I did have 2 passengers on board a male and female.

Anyway, bottom line is, a drunk driver taken off the road afetr I witnessed him narrowly miss a bus and 2 pedestrians. To me its a job well done and if I see the same again then I would do the same again.

Sorry but I've no time for drink drivers

Unruly teenagers

Its been a few week since I've posted. This is mainly due to other aspects of the job taking over temproarily. Things such as the office I.T as well as other important matters so I have not been out on the orad as much locally.

Anyway tonight I picked up 3 young lads aged around 19 or 20 and a girl. During the conversation every other word was a swear word and entwined with sentences of a sexual nature towards the girl who was just as bad by going into graphic details as towhy she likes sex and what she wants the lads to do to her.

Personally I dont need to know this and didnt realy need to hear it but its part of the job and you cant help hearing what your passengers say but there again they didnt seem to care that I was listening.

Would they have still been like this if it was one of our lady drivers that picked them up. I reckon they would have been as they didnt seem to care.

Some things are just left unsaid until the end of the journey and theyve left the car,

No respect from them and this isnt just a one off. Its a regular occurence
